For high tech companies, a well-structured industry chain is a determinant of their growth speed. In SIP, the rainforest-like industrial ecosystem featuring close upstream-downstream collaboration driven by leading companies has become the primary attraction to investors.

“Over 95% of our upstream supply comes from the Asia-Pacific region, and many of major supporting enterprises are clustered right in Suzhou and its surrounding areas,” said Liu Sheng, founder and chairman of InnoLight Technology.

As a global leader in the optical module sector, InnoLight’s rapid growth would not have been possible without SIP’s strong industrial foundation. In April, the cooperation agreement for Suzhou Optical Communications Industry Base, a project with a total investment of RMB5 billion, was signed in the park, bringing together InnoLight Technology and other companies as well as higher education institutions such as Fudan University and Suzhou Institute of Nano-Tech and Nano-Bionics (SINANO) to form a closed loop for collaborative technological innovation. This has allowed InnoLight to enter an expressway for transition from R&D to mass production. In 2025, the company’s operating income reached RMB38.2 billion, with over 80% from the Asia-Pacific market.

It’s not just homegrown companies — global giants have also found real synergy here. Lee Hyuk-joon, vice president of Hyundai Motor Group and president of Hyundai Motor Group China, said, “Competition in today’s auto industry is about ecosystem and speed. Suzhou offers the most fertile ground for that.”
