The fair offered far more than the joy of reading; it seamlessly integrated intangible cultural heritage, digital technology and urban cultural tourism resources to create an immersive experience that was visual, interactive, and entertaining.

At the intangible cultural heritage zone, traditional handicrafts such as nut carving, lacquer art and cyanotype prints were displayed, drawing lots of visitors. The digital devices incorporating VR (virtual reality) technology were particularly popular with younger readers.

The event also offered an exclusive cultural tourism perk: visitors could purchase a ticket with RMB20 off for a Ferris wheel ride by Jinji Lake by presenting the book fair admission ticket, a book purchase receipt, or the exhibitor certificate.
