The Suzhou MoCA’s inaugural art season, themed “Suzhou in Beautiful MoCA”, presents four major exhibitions that weave a tapestry of East-West dialogue and ancient-modern fusion.

Among them, the “Picasso and the World of His Influence” exhibition highlights the Vollard Suite, which is hailed as the pinnacle of 20th-century printmaking. Centered on Picasso, it connects later reverberations in artists such as Zao Wou-Ki, David Hockney, and George Condo.

The “Gen: A Journey Through Art’s Transcendence” exhibition, curated by Wu Hongliang, dean of Beijing Fine Art Academy, features representative works of 27 artists/groups including Huang Yongyu, Xu Bing, and Zhou Chunya.

These two exhibitions are designed to form an intriguing dialogue: Picasso reconstructed European tradition, while Chinese artists respond to the contemporary world with transcendent Eastern philosophical thoughts.

The “Codes & Canopies: Art Beyond the Age of Algorithms” exhibition boasts works by internationally acclaimed artists from 11 countries, covering AI art, bio-art, virtual art, and space art. It is expected to foster cross-disciplinary synergy between advanced technology and contemporary art.

The permanent exhibition themed “BIG: Materialism” showcases the rational beauty of architecture. Jointly curated by the Suzhou MoCA and BIG, it presents a dialogue on construction logic and spatial awareness centering on materials, with the Suzhou MoCA as a major example.
