Several communities in SIP’s Weiting Sub-district recently hosted events to enrich local residents’ cultural life with intangible cultural heritage (ICH) elements.
The “Pearl Tower”, a classic piece of tanci (an ancient performing art) was staged in Yilin Community for 10 consecutive days, attracting many residents.

Gexiang Community organized a hands-on activity where a group of children learned to make green bean cakes and gained a better understanding of the history of Suzhou-style pastries.

In the event in Xihu Community, the participants learned about the history and artistic value of Song brocade, which is one of China’s most refined and prestigious silk textiles, and tried to make tote bags with Song brocade.
