SIP’s Xietang Sub-district recently saw a succession of events designed to celebrate the 717 Knight Festival (also known as 717 Delivery Riders Festival) which, initiated by Meituan and other online shopping platforms, is observed in China on July 17 each year to enhance delivery riders’ professional identity and social recognition.

A new service station was opened at Lianfeng Plaza, offering delivery riders a place to take a break from work and get supplies such as drinking water and first-aid medicine in urgent need.
Concurrently, Xietang Sub-district released an action plan to enhance services for delivery workers, along with a volunteer services list to encourage delivery riders to volunteer in grassroots governance actions. The sub-district’s federation of trade unions presented cooling products to delivery riders.

Several lawyers were appointed as advisors who provide legal advice for delivery riders on a regular basis.

A carnival was launched at the same time, with a variety of fun games that allowed delivery riders to relax themselves for a while and showcase their proficiency.
Moreover, free services such as phone screen protector service and legal consultancy were offered on site, and lemonade and other cooling products were distributed.
