Among the bustling streets of SIP lie many historical sites which serve as vivid carriers of history. Xietang Sub-district, as part of SIP, presents a striking contrast between past and present.

The Tomb of Zhang Shicheng in Nanshi Park, near the old Xietang Street, bears a precious historical imprint. Zhang led an uprising against the Yuan Dynasty from 1353 to 1367. During about 10 years, he brought substantial benefits to people in Pingjiang Lu (now Suzhou) by building water conservancy projects, rewarding farming, and reducing taxes.

The Qiongjidun, located on the southeastern shore of Jinji Lake, is said to be the burial site of the daughter of King Fuchai of Wu. In 1984, a brick-and-stone tomb with Song Dynasty relics was unveiled here. Research later confirmed it as a man-made earthwork dating back over 5,000 years.

Wangmu Village, another historic site in Xietang Sub-district, is said to be related to Wang Xizhi, a calligraphy master from the Eastern Jin Dynasty (317-420). It adds a touch of literary elegance to the sub-district.
