Weidmüller, a century-old German enterprise, launched construction on its Asia operations headquarters in SIP on June 30. With a total investment of RMB1 billion, the new facility is scheduled to begin operations in 2028. It will then serve as a full-value-chain hub integrating smart manufacturing, R&D, intelligent logistics, engineering application, and training services.

Weidmüller is a global leader in industrial connectivity, supporting its customers and partners around the world with products, solutions and services in the industrial environment of power, signal and data. Since 1994, the company has steadily expanded its presence in the Chinese market, serving numerous industry-leading clients.

“The Chinese market is one of our most important markets, and SIP offers a complete industrial system and excellent development ecosystem with first-class business environment and efficient administrative services, which have strengthened our determination and confidence to base our Asia-Pacific operations here,” said André Sombecki, CFO and Board Member for Asian Affairs. He emphasized that the project represents a long-term, comprehensive upgrade of the company’s value-chain capabilities and a key part of its globalization strategy.

The facility, covering a land area of 60 mu (40,000 square meters), will be a highly intelligent and digitalized operations hub. It will upgrade the widely acclaimed Weidmüller Qilin series of products tailored for Chinese market and put them into mass production.

As a showcase of China’s opening-up and innovation, SIP has attracted over 5,200 foreign-invested projects, including about 170 German companies, making it a premier destination for German investment and innovation in China.
