The exhibition themed “One Lens, All Worlds” recently opened at Suzhou Eslite Bookstore in SIP, and will last till Oct 11.

On display are more than 200 works selected from over 700 million images in the collection of Visual China Group (VCG), a leading visual content supplier in the country.

The exhibition comprises eight parts with photos and creative audio/video works depicting geographical landscapes, daily life, traditional architectural and folk art, technology, and environmental concepts.

A highlight is the display of 28 historical photographs documenting China’s “firsts” in modern times, most of which are being shown to the public for the first time. Among them are pictures of Liu Changchun’s solo journey to the 1932 Olympics, the opening of China’s first railway, and the launch of Shenzhou-5 (China’s first manned spacecraft). These exhibits vividly highlight a number of key milestones in the transformation of Chinese society from the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 21st century.

In the interactive zones between different parts of the exhibition, visitors can try an ancient coin-tossing ritual for fortune-telling cards, deepening engagement with both the visuals and Eastern wisdom.
