SIP has devised a reading route in an effort to encourage tours to culture and art. Ten families participated in the first tour along the route, experiencing SIP’s unique charm as an urban area integrating both traditional and modern cultural elements.

The participants first visited the Xinshang Shufang, a creative cultural space integrating books, tea, music, cultural creations and public-benefit activities. They learned about books recommended by its manager and listened to an impromptu piano piece played by him.

The participants then visited Quantum Chapter, the first science-fiction-themed interactive bookstore in China, viewing models under the themes of military science, science fiction and space and watching a 5D film featuring the eight planets of the Solar System.

They also visited Suzhou Eslite Bookstore and took part in the “Looking for Book Selectors” campaign.

Before visiting the bookstores, the participants also attended the Jiangsu Book Fair, and learned to make bookmarks from an inheritor of traditional paper cutting (carving) techniques recognized as intangible cultural heritage.
